This is "Home", the starting point of this history.  The history is an interconnected set of fairly small web pages that will let you hyperlink from person to person.  It is based on a book called the History of the Clan Macrae (the Clan Macrae Book), by the Rev. Alexander Macrae, B.A., published in 1899 by Dingwall: A. M. Ross and Company. (Reprinting available from Amazon.com)  The Clan History was converted to web pages by Graeme McRae.

To make this history more readable on the web, I made some minor changes to the original text.  For example, I use (gen 11) rather than XI to show the generation number of a person descended eleven generations from Fionnla Dubh Mac Gillechriosd.  Original page numbers are changed to hyperlinks.   The index is omitted altogether, and is replaced by a search engine.  Sections that describe family trees are re-ordered and indented like an outline to show the hierarchy.

If you have questions or comments about this web site, feel free to click the "Email" link on any page, which will put you on a mailing list.  You can get off the mailing list any time by replying with a message asking to get off the mailing list.

I kept the Table of Contents intact, and you might find that a good place to start reading.
