On 8/18/99, Catherine's sister Mary came with us to Knott's Berry Farm, in Buena Park, California. If you're completely unfamiliar with the attractions in Southern California, you might think Knotts Berry Farm is a farm. Once it was just a farm, famous for its berries and jams, but it has since evolved into a top-flight amusement park. It's still famous for its berries and jams, too.
The newest attraction at Knott's is Ghost Rider, a large wooden roller coaster. This is the best roller coaster I've ever ridden. It's one of the tallest wooden roller coasters in the world, with an initial drop of 118 feet, reaching a speed of 56 miles per hour. The ride is as long as it is exciting -- it takes 2 minutes for the coaster to complete the almost mile-long track. It crosses Grand Avenue (the street that runs in front of Knott's) four times!
There I am (Graeme) in the back next to my little daughter Meghan. In front of me is Mary (Catherine's sister). Next to Mary is Matthew, my son. In front is Caitlin, my older daughter.
Here are Matthew and Caitlin on Boomerang:
