SYSTRAN Translation Software, from Alta Vista, allows anyone to translate a small amount of text English to any of several languages (I chose French), or from one of the other languages to English.  I started with some technical writing --the introduction of a memo about my company's computer processor strategy -- and translated it into French.  Then I took the resulting fractured French, and translated it back into English.  You'll be amused when you see the original English side-by-side with the twice-translated text.

Step 1: Translate from English to French
Step 2: Translate the result back to English
Step 3: Look at the original English and the twice-translated English side-by-side

Long after I did this, I discovered someone else has had the same idea, and gave it a catchy name: The "Babelizer"!  It automates the work I did by hand.
