Math Help -> Geometry and Trigonometry -> Polar coordinates

In Polar Coordinates, points are designated by their distance, r, from the origin, and their angle, θ, measured counterclockwise from a ray starting at the origin.  An equation that gives r for an arbitrary θ is said to be a "polar equation", and can be plotted, giving rise to many interesting shapes.
