| | What's Old?
Are you going to Scarlboro Fair?
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme.
A love once new, has now grown old.
And here it is. Stuff that was once new, but now it's old. I
couldn't bear to throw out these lovely links, so I just moved them here.
Enjoy.
ATTENTION: the "What's New" section has the
stuff that will find its way here eventually.

Mathworld is back! |

 |
Eric Weisstein's Mathworld
website is back! This website, Dr. Weisstein's life work
(previously known as the Concise Encyclopedia of Mathematics) was the
victim of a lawsuit over the rights to the material -- 10,056
entries (more than one myriad),
176,142 cross-references, 4,132 figures, 105 animated
graphics, 958 live
Java applets, and counting... |

has a sense of humor -- here is a ballot,
in the Floridian style, that allows you to vote for the area of Amazon
you like the best.
Also, I've added hundreds of links to "info"
resources, especially mathematical information of all kinds. These
pages of links are so huge, you should load them, then click on Edit,
Find, to find the keywords of the area of mathematics you're looking for,
and chances are you'll find many links to websites devoted to that area of
math. |

| March 12, 2000: In Graeme's
section, I added a page to rant about Gas
Crisis 2000 |
| |
| Here's a photo of an Arco station, where a worker is changing the price,
while his boss stands behind him yelling "Faster! Faster!"
Isn't it odd that when the supply of gasoline increases, the boss isn't
yelling at his workers to lower the price? Oh well. I
have a solution: the Gasoline
Fairy. Click here to see how that work. |

| February 15, 2000: In the "language
fun" section. . . |
| |
| Charlton Heston was so mad he could hardly keep his dentures in his
mouth! On April 8, 1999 I posted his speech
in which he seems to be defending our right to bear arms, (or maybe
he's complaining about political correctness, it's hard to tell) but
on closer analysis
is nothing more than a series of examples of probably well-intentioned
rules that can be mis-applied.
This web page prompted some heated responses from people who
misconstrued my criticism of Charlton Heston's "logic" as
criticism of gun advocates in general. To set the record
straight, here is my argument
against gun control as we practice it.
(Now I'm looking forward to a whole new crop of emails -- if I like
yours, I'll post it.)

| December 18, 1999: In Graeme's section, I added a page about
Biz Dealings |
| |
| I read a story once about a guy who was totally unhappy with the
"lemon" he bought from the car dealer. He painted the car,
covering it with big juicy yellow LEMONS, and parked it in a legal parking
spot right across from the dealer's lot. He called the newspapers,
and they took photos of the car and its owner. The Internet provides
a similar opportunity to publicize the experiences I've had with various
businesses -- experiences both good and bad. In this section is a
positive article about the U.S.
Postal Service and a negative one about a local
pizza joint. |

| December 10, 1999: The
Ian and Blanche Story |

Australia. It contains a lot of information about various McRae's

members -- and it's searchable. Check it out! |

| I received a letter from
Michael P. Higgins, of Georgia, which says he is planning a Highland event
to be held in Darien, Georgia, USA, on 25 March, 2000. I'm looking
forward to hearing more about it -- I'll post the information here on
mcraeclan.com. Check in from time to time for more information. |

| August 18, 1999: The best roller coaster in Southern
California |
| |
From the back
left to the front: Graeme, Meghan, Mary, Matthew, and Caitlin on
the Ghost Rider roller coaster at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena
Park, California. My opinion: this is the best roller
coaster in Southern California, even if falling trim did
injure five people less than a week after we rode it. |

| May 4, 1999: In an article called "Webnode"
<-- Click here for the full story |
| |
| On April Fools day it was reported that WebNode.com would would sell
$4 Billion of NextGeneration Internet Nodes to the public. This
report was a hoax. A lawyer from one of the companies taken in
by this hoax asked me to remove that report, so I'm afraid it isn't
available on this web site any longer. But it was a good
joke while it lasted. |

December 26, 1998: A book called History of the Clan Macrae
was written about a hundred years ago by Rev. Alexander Macrae, B.
A. In that book, the generations of the clan are numbered starting
with Fionnla Dubh Mac
Gillechriosd as generation 1. Starting in December, 1998, I began
posting the book on this web site. This is a work in progress --
barely started, in fact -- but with enough of a start you might find it
interesting. Click here to start. |

| December 21, 1998: I put a page

November 9, 1998: At various times in history, and without knowing it, groups
of people have been just minutes away from major discoveries that will change
the world forever. The inventions of fire, the wheel, farming,
industry, and computers -- in a word, Technology -- as not just a progression,
but an uphill progression in that we humans are relentlessly pushing,
pushing against the force of Chaos. A startling prediction: Without
warning, Chaos will yield to the increasing power of Technology.
Technology will crest that hill, and start snowballing down the other
side. No longer pushing, we humans will be running behind the Technology
no longer in our control. Before long, it will no longer be in our
grasp. And finally, it will fall from view. Read Graeme's Random Thoughts
on this and other weighty matters.

August 20, 1998: I started to answer the question, "Why is there

under the Jean and Eion McRae page.
May 1, 1998, Matthew finished his California

April 29, 1998, I ran across an updated
version of the fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper.
April 27, 1998, This web site adopted its present structure, featuring a page
for each family member as well as a "links"
page.
