only take a minute or two.
When asked to name people you know, please be truthful; it
matters.

He's a liberal wiener. He's a right-wing nut job. See John Kerry and George Bush square off and trade insults in this can't-miss campaign parody of "This Land is Your Land."
-- an animated cartoon in which
each of the two American 2004 presidential candidates takes pot shots at the other.

Someone using the assumed name of John Titor and claiming to be a soldier on a mission from 2036 presented a considerable amount of information on the Web beginning around November 2000 about his mission and time travel machine, his perspective on our society, how our society is going wrong, and...

Click the doughboy, and hear
him fart. A barfing doughboy is also available. I originally
found this on the website derekgrout.com/doughboy/doughboy2/index.html,
but this is no longer available, it seems. I used milkandcookies.com/
to find this animation. |

Sign up to be a member of FakedNews.com,
and you'll be able to send links to realistic-looking news stories like
this one about the discovery that my daughter, Meghan, has been living
a double life. |

This web page describes in
uoe.dk/csworld/security-.html great
detail an important precaution you should take against having your
personal computer stolen.
Step-by-step instructions, with clear
illustrations, are included. |
Now
you can make everyone in your house miserable by playing this
bagpipe MIDI music through your 500-watt subwoofers! |
Here's
another video game on the Internet. It's like "Space
Invaders" except the invaders are all clones of bin Laden, and the
"good guy" is one of George Bush, Dick Cheney, or Colin
Powell. www.huntandpunish.com/. |
Here
is a video game you can enjoy. The object is to kill Bin Laden as
many times as you can without killing his hostage. http://www.fieler.com/terror |
It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it
"Jumping the Shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.
This expression refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." |
An
excellent use of the Flash Plug-in. |
School
Photos from across the world. A huge archive. You might find

Feline
Reactions to Bearded Men, a "scientific" study. Read this
for a good laugh. The website is "AIR", the Annals of
Improbable Research, chock full of questionable research. Enjoy. |
let the hours waste away with the
PERPETUAL BUBBLEWRAP!
For the ultimate in time wasting, simply
roll your mouse over the bubble wrap to see and hear a satisfying 'pop' as
the bubble bursts.
Trouble is, the bubbles come right back after a bit, so it is - we are
proud to announce - well and truly useless! |
killfrog.com has interactive
animated cartoons, like the singing bass, who has the misfortune of
singing songs that get him killed. Poor bass! |
Made
2 Smile.Com has a nice selection of "Internet Jokes". Some
are funny, some are just cute. They are nicely illustrated and come
complete with music. |
Peacefire.org
is dedicated to preserving free speech on the Internet. This website
sharply criticizes efforts to censor the Internet using such "blockers"
as Net Nanny and Cyber Sitter. Many sites are blocked in error or by
overly broad categorization because the Internet changes so fast these
censors aren't able to keep up with the changes. So, for example,
entire "online communities" (e.g. Geocities, Tripod, etc.)
containing millions of web pages, representing terabytes of data, are
blocked. Some glaring examples of
incorrectly blocked sites are listed on the web site, and represent
some of the more interesting surfing you will do. Or check out the blocked
site of the day! |
Mr.
Methane is a musician. He controls his farts to make musical
tones. He appeared on the Howard Stern radio show, and is selling
this album of his music. |
Pappy's Freshest Fart of the day. These farts are real, not some
sound effect. You must hear them to believe them! (RealAudio required.) |

Capital Pacific Holdings,
Inc. is a great web site! You can "virtually" walk around inside the model
homes. I recommend clicking on "California", then click the Rancho Palos
Verdes Ocean Front Estates -- CPH's newest masterpiece. |

The Jargon

This document is a collection of slang terms used by various subcultures of computer

Cindy Margolis is a model. Not only
can you see Cindy in various bikinis, but she also gives her life story. I found it
interesting to read how she got her start in the business. And of course she'll sell
you calendars, mouse pads, hats, and other stuff. |

We found a GREAT TOY for Meghan! It's called
"Twist and Shout Multiplication". We really wanted the Twist and
Shout Addition, but the big K-Mart was out of them. Maybe it's just as well.
The Multiplication game is challenging Meghan. Now she is running around the house
saying things like "two times four is eight!". The game is made by a
company called Leap Frog.
Here's the logo from their web site -- isn't it great? |

Freepolls.com
allows you, the web designer, to create poll on any subject of your choice, and lets your
visitors vote on that subject. |

Yahoo
Chat (formerly GeoCities Chat) has a couple dozen
categories, and lots of "rooms" in each category. |

This is a great site (I think)! You
see, I keep getting the feeling Charles Fleischer is laughing at me, and this site isn't
really great but instead cleverly constructed to appear great even though it's total
garbage. For example, it has an "Insult Engine" that uses a computer to
automatically generate insults that you can email anonymously to anyone in the world.
He has artwork that looks like computer-generated fractals, and poetry and music as
well. It all seems so deep but maybe it's just that I'm
shallow. Check it out, and see what you think! |

Webring is
"one of the fastest and most exciting ways to navigate the World Wide Web! This
completely free service offers easy access to hundreds of thousands of member websites
organized by related interests into easy-to-travel rings. Random exploration is a
way to see some clever home pages. |

Linnéa-
ville |
Welcome to Linnéaville, my own WWW home town! This is a web site
that you can play like a game of "Adventure". It was written by a woman
named Judit Linnéa Margareta Stensdotter Anglemark, who was born in Uppsala, Sweden on
March 20, 1973. She has tried to make an interesting web that is self-sufficient;
that is, without many links to the "outside world". She writes,
"Since I dislike commercial Web-pages with a great hate, I will not ever have any
link to any place that offers merchandice or service for money. Please tell me if you find
that any of my links go to such a place." |

Eve Astrid Andersson's home page. "I received a
bachelor's degree from Caltech in 1996 and am now a graduate student at U.C. Berkeley in
the department of Mechanical Engineering. Do you want to know more about me? Yes /
No." Go to her page and click "no" -- I dare you!
Alas, this page has disappeared, but she has a new
page, on which I recommend clicking the "Pi" link, under
"things I enjoy".
